Grace and Truth

Bible Ministries

We are continuing our examination of intercession as a facet of prayer in our study of the  doctrine of Prayer as a mandate for the believer in the PPOG for the church age. Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17

We are presently examining Paul's prayer recorded in Eph 3:14- 19; for the empowerment of the believers at Ephesus  which can be used as a model for our own prayers for other believers.

His prayer can be summarized as follows:

That God would grant according to the riches of his glory

to be strengthened with power by means of His Spirit in the inner being,

with the result that  Christ would dwell in your hearts by means of Bible Doctrine

with the result that  you may grasp the width, length, height, and depth of God's love,

so that you may come to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge

and  be filled with all the fullness of God.

Today we are going to take another look at Paul's prayer for believers to have the " At-Home-Residence of Christ"  which is described in  (Eph 3:17 ; because this is how the believer receives power that comes from the indwelling of TLJC which Paul describes in. Phil 4:13; 2Cor 2:9Gal 2:20;

A modified and expanded translation of Eph 3:17;

"So that Christ may reside at home [Greek: katoikeo] in your stream-of-consciousness [Greek: "kardia" in the plural is used here] by means of doctrine [most importantly metabolized mystery doctrine], you, having been rooted and established in love."

Christ at home in the the soul means: He is "free" to reside and circulate through all seven compartments of the stream-of-consciousness or the "rooms" of the right lobe of the soul, called the kardia or "the heart."

These compartments of the soul are the frame of reference, memory center, vocabulary storage, categorical storage, conscience, momentum and wisdom compartments.

We will now consider the some of the doctrine that would be circulating in these compartments in a believer who has the "at home residence of TLJC"

The word storage compartment of a believer with the "at home residence of TLJC" would contain vocabulary related to following doctrines.

Lord translated from "Kurios" -  is the title of the Deity of Christ.
Jesus translated from "lesous" - is  the name of the Humanity of Christ.
Christ transliterated  from "Christou"  translated from the Hebrew Messiah  which means Annointed which is His title and his role as the God-Man in Hypostatic Union.

TLJC as Son of God (John 20:31)

TLJC as the only Savior Acts 4:12;

His merits (Impecability) 1Cor 1:30; 2Cor 5:21Heb 5:9; which are the basis for our eternal salvation

His finished work (Forgivenes. Substitution, Redemption, Reconciliation, Propitiation, Expiation, Peace) (John 19:30)

Some Doctrinal Categories related to TLJC  that would reside in the Categorical Compartment of a believer with the "at home residence of TLJC"

Hypostatic Union (John 1:1,14);

Kenosis (Phil 2:5-8; Heb 10:5-7;

Dispensation of the Unglorified Humanity of Christ  Heb 5:7-8; Heb 12:2-3 ; John 7:38-39;

The Earned or Acquired Glory of Christ (Phil 2:9-11; Heb 12:2-3; 1Tim 3:16b;
