Bible Ministries

In the context of our study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17

We are considering the doctrine of the "at home residence of TLJC  which is found in Eph 3:17; as part of  Paul's intercessory prayer for believers to be empowered to advance in the Spiritual life.

We have looked at the Doctrinal Content that a believer with the "at home residence of TLJC" would have in their word storage, categorical storage and frame of reference.

We will now consider the effects of the Doctrine of the TLJC on the Conscience of the believer with the "at home residence of TLJC".

The Encyclopedia Britannica refers to the conscience as (1) discerning between right and wrong, (2) predisposing to moral action, and (3) bringing remorse to the person who recognizes he has broken a law.

The believer must have a good conscience  to provide the proper ambiance for the "at-home-residence of Christ" (Hebrews 9:14; Hebrews 10:19-22; 1John 3:20; NET

;

The good conscience is established in the doctrinal reality that all sins were judged in TLJC on the cross 1John 2:2; which made provision for the forgiveness of all sins and that all of the believer's pre salvation sins were forgiven at the moment that the believer was saved.  Rom 3:21-26 ; and all of the belivers post salvation sins are forgiven when they are simply acknowledged. 1John 1:9;

The good conscience comes from having impersonal unconditional love and living according to the truth of Bible Doctrine and when one fails, the application of the Grace of God through the application of  of PSD#1 1John 1:9; and advance by means of the PMA of Bible Doctrine Phil 3:12-141Tim 1:5; (Acknowledge the failure, forget it  and keep moving).

Notice the same word (καθαρίζω katharizō )  is used in 1John 1:9;NET note 24 and Heb 9:14;

NET it is translated cleanse in the NASB, but as we have seen before, it is more precisely translated purify.

To maintain and preserve the good conscience the believer with the "at home residence of TLJC' takes every though captive to the obedience of Christ. 2Cor 10:5;b Net note 17 in whom is all wisdom and knowledge Col 2:2-3;

The believer with the "at home residence of TLJC" has their conscience purified Heb 9:14; from the washing  Heb 10:22 (Net note 26 )of the spoken word of God  (rema) Eph 5:26;  This purification is necessary because the conscience monitors and evaluates the thinking and the actions based on the norms and standards that it has been taught. Rom 2:14-15;
