2Peter 2:1-9; But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.

v2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;

v3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

v4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;

v5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

v6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter;

v7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men

v8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),

v9 the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment...

We are presently in a study of satan's cosmic system that is a system of arrogant demonic thinking that is comprised of the lies and deceit from demonic viewpoint that since the fall in the Garden of Eden, apart from God in the darkness of spiritual death that has become the basis of the thinking of the entire human race. 1Cor 2:14; Rev 12:9;

When we stopped last time we had noted that arrogance destroys capacity for life, the true values of life, and the meaning, purpose and definition in life that can only be established from a personal sense of destiny developed from divine viewpoint.

Because arrogant power corrupts in both the angelic and human realm, humility is man's only protection against the corrupting influence of arrogance on power and authority.

You may have heard it said that "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" but it is actually arrogance that corrupts power. Arrogance corrupts power and then arrogant people misuse that corrupted power for destructive purposes.

Demon penetration of every facet of the soul results in demon penetration of the personality. This is essentially personality invasion where the soul becomes depraved from demonic influence. Rom 1:28-32;

Real arrogance really corrupts, because real arrogance is how one opens the door of the thinking of the soul to demon influence. This is why arrogance precedes destruction. Prov 16:18; Isa 14:13-15;

This process starts in the thinking with self-deception and self-justification from self-righteous arrogance. Self-righteousness is the status of being righteous in one's own esteem or to be Pharisaical.

Our Lord condemned their self-righteousness in His final dissertation to the Jewish leadership who because of their arrogant self-righteous self deception they rejected the truth of His true identity as Messiah in Matt 23:13; He begins with the phrase "Woe unto you, scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites...."

The self-justification of self-righteousness is associated with arrogance because it is established on the basis of values assumed from arrogant reliance on one's own preconceived inconsistent unreliable incorrect standard of reference for thinking.

Self-righteousness is the arrogant conviction that one's own value system is superior to that of everyone else. It is the conclusion of blind arrogance that believes that one's own standards of good are so superior that intolerance of others who disagree is acceptable. John 16:2-4;

This is the basis for accusations that concludes with the phrase "after all that I've done for you."

Self-righteousness arrogance is defined as divorcement from reality; it is the logical progression from preoccupation with self that produces a system of fantasizing and self-promotion at the expense of others

The categories of self-righteous arrogance include but are not limited to the arrogance of legalism, personality arrogance, the arrogance of morality, authority arrogance, crusader arrogance, Christian activism, the arrogance of Christian service and transference arrogance where the person projects their failures on others and accuses others of having the failures that the accuser actually possess.

Arrogant self-righteousness is the motivational arrogance that manifests itself in these categories, all of which comprise another step toward unreality.

By the time a person gets into this kind of transference arrogance they are operating in locked in negative volition which explains how believers can become mentally ill. If a believer divorces himself from Bible doctrine, he divorces himself from reality, and the unrelenting drive toward unreality results in mental illness.

The arrogance of legalism that originates from self-righteousness is taught in Galatians and in six chapters of Romans.

The arrogance of legalism is the vanity of the unique experience that places erroneous emphasis on human achievement.

It starts with believers failing to understand the uniqueness of the Church Age, the portfolio of invisible assets, the escrow blessings, the divine decree, equal privilege and equal opportunity in the protocol plan of God.

It fails to understand the believer's union with Christ that establishes a new spiritual species that comprises God's royal family the divine dynasphere and how it works under the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit, the indwelling of the Trinity, and the great power experiment of the Hypostatic Union and how it is redeployed into the Church Age by the Head of the Church, Jesus Christ.

Believers revert back to the Mosaic Law for spirituality because they fail to understand this unique spiritual power. The Mosaic Law has three elements: the laws of divine establishment, that explain freedom, privacy, property, and life; ritual that explains the Gospel; and additional ritual that explains the function of the faith-rest drill.

Believers who do not understand the unique assets that are described in the New Testament for the Church revert back to Old Testament ritual in order to use the morality and ritual of Israel as a substitute for the true spirituality that God designed for the Church.

The problem is that the morality of Israel was for both believer and unbeliever but the Christian way of life is a supernatural way of life that demands a supernatural means of execution that comes exclusively from the power of the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit combined with the power of the Mystery Doctrine of the Church. John 4:24; John 14:26; John 15:26;

Self-righteous arrogance includes any form of legalism in three general categories.

Salvation by works adds some kind of human achievement to faith for eternal life. But the Scripture clearly states that salvation is attained exclusively on the basis of grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Eph 2:8-9;

Arrogant people are not satisfied with the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and want to add their own works to it. However, salvation was finished on the cross so it is blasphemous and legalistic to try to add some system of human works to the efficacious, unlimited atonement of Christ on the cross. John 19:30;

Spirituality by works is where people keep certain ritual observances or taboos and falsely call it spirituality. They falsely assume that blessings from God are based on human achievement, self-sacrifice, morality, giving, conforming to a church program, or participating in some ritual.

Legalists have no understanding of the Holiness of God that is comprised of divine justice and divine righteousness. The basis for blessing from God is the fact that God has imputed His own perfect righteousness to every believer at the moment of salvation with the result that every believer becomes the object of God's personal love because they possess His perfect righteousness. 2Cor 5:21;

God is then free to bless believers with logistical grace blessings on the basis of the fact that they possess His perfect righteousness. Rom 8:3-4;

Using imputation, God found a way to bless us without compromising His perfect holiness. God doesn't bless us because of anything we do He blesses us because we possess His perfect righteousness that is imputed to us at the moment we believe in Jesus Christ.
