2Peter 2:1-9; But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
v2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
v3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
v4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
v5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
v6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter;
v7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men
v8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),
v9 the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment...
We are presently in a study of satan's cosmic system that is a system of arrogant demonic thinking that is comprised of the lies and deceit from demonic viewpoint that since the fall in the Garden of Eden, apart from God in the darkness of spiritual death has become the basis of the thinking of the entire human race. 1Cor 2:14; Rev 12:9;
When we stopped last time we had noted that legalists have no understanding of how God's Holiness that is comprised of divine justice and divine righteousness blesses mankind without being compromised.
They don't understand that the basis for blessing from God is the fact that God has imputed His own perfect righteousness to every believer at the moment of salvation with the result that every believer becomes the object of God's personal love because they possess His perfect righteousness. 2Cor 5:21;
God is then free to bless believers with logistical grace blessings unconditionally simply on the basis of the fact that they possess His perfect righteousness that they did nothing to receive. Rom 8:3-4;
Using imputation, God found a way to bless us without compromising His perfect holiness. God doesn't bless us because of anything we do He blesses us because we possess His perfect righteousness that is imputed to everyone at the moment they believe in Jesus Christ.
Legalism can be classified as blind arrogance because the vanity of being divorced from the truth that God reveals to us in His Word that leads to the erroneous conclusion that the believer is successful, mature, or great because of some unique experience, sacrifice, system of human good works.
The blind arrogance of legalism concludes that God's plan succeeds or fails on the basis of how a believer performs, rather than on the basis of what God provides for every believer on the basis of grace alone.
Self-righteous arrogance is what motivates the function of legalism. Legalism can be defined as the pomposity of the energy of the flesh and the blasphemy of Christian works that the believer tries to substitute for God's grace.
It is the insolence of replacing the divinely provided portfolio of invisible assets with the pretentious conceit of human ability. This irrational legalism is the same as the arrogance of morality that assumes that God blesses people for being moral.
The truth is that amorality has built in negative consequences so it just looks like morality is being blessed because it is not suffering the negative consequences.
When there is any malfunction of self-righteous arrogance, the individual is always shocked at their own failure. When self is shocked a conceited conclusion is made that Bible doctrine doesn't work and that God's plan has failed because they have failed."
Self-righteous arrogance correlated with the arrogance of legalism concludes with the lie that God's plan succeeds or fails on the basis of human works, rather than concluding with the reality that God's plan succeeds on the basis of what God does for us on the basis of His grace. Eph 2:8-10; 1Cor 15:10;
Legalism establishes a false system of standards and measures spiritual success on the basis of complying with those false standards.
Legalism blasphemes God by alleging that salvation can be acquired by keeping the Law. This is contradicted in Galatians chapters 1-3; and Rom 13:3-10;
Legalism also blasphemes God by alleging that a believer is spiritual by keeping the Law. This is contradicted in Galatians chapters 4-6; and Romans chapters 7-8.
The arrogance of self-righteousness attempts to impose its standards on others and if they do not comply judges, condemns, slanders and maligns them.
The arrogance of legalism creates personality arrogance where self-righteous arrogance seeks to dominate people, policy, and authority and establish false standards and impose them on other people.
This produces a domineering personality who is a bully who assumes that he is never wrong. God's Word contradicts this in 1John 1:8; that says that anyone who "assumes he has no sin is a liar and has no truth in him."
This occurs when self righteous people establish themselves as victims and rather than forgiving those who they accuse of wrongdoing set themselves up as a judge and jury that condemns those they accuse of perpetuating the wrong.
This is the ultimate in arrogance because the victim can never be wrong even when they are. This is how satan and the fallen angels have arrayed themselves against God and it is why they will never ever repent. The same goes for humans who duplicate their arrogance.
This is part of what is destroying our country at this time where criminals and perverts set themselves up as victims and slander, accuse and destroy truth along with anyone who stands for truth.
The result is the blind leading the blind where personality arrogance motivated by self-righteousness rejects free volition and human privacy and proceeds to try to forcibly compel false standards.
People have the right to be wrong. People have the right to make their own mistakes. God provides correction from positive volition to the teaching of Bible doctrine or from the imposition of divine discipline on negative volition. Rom 14:4; 2Pet 3:9; Eccles 8:11;
Personality arrogance is irrational and never satisfied until everyone in his periphery is a puppet on a string dancing to his tune, using his standards, and fulfilling the principle of the blind leading the blind.
Anyone who succumbs to personality arrogance and legalism falls into the worst possible ditch. This is why the world at large has such an erroneous concept of Christianity.
Personality arrogance maligns and attacks the subject matter of Bible doctrine and the communicator of Bible doctrine.
Personality arrogance is the superimposition of personal and false opinions over the principles of God's Word. If the pastor does not agree with the false concepts, personality arrogance attacks the pastor and tries to discredit him and his ministry.
Personality arrogance is the manifestation of a fragmented, flawed life. When there is a fragmented life, some people gravitate to the self-righteous personality; others gravitate to the lascivious personality.
Prolonged involvement in cosmic one means possession of the tragic flaw where no genius, no talent, no ability, no success, and no prosperity can erase the effects of the tragic flaw.
Personality arrogance is where one uses their personality to dominate a cell of weak people in order to be antagonistic toward the policy and leadership of the group.
This does not mean every dominant personality is arrogant. But dominating personalities in a local church or in any organization must beware of setting up their personal and all too often erroneous opinions against the authority of doctrine, in the local church, or against any other legitimate authority.
