Prov 28:1; The wicked flee when no one is pursuing but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Job 5:8-27; (NET) “But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would set forth my case.
v9 He does great and unsearchable things, marvelous things without number;
v10 he gives rain on the earth, and sends water on the fields;
v11 he sets the despised on high, that those who are dirty are raised to safety.
v12 He frustrates the plans of the crafty so that they cannot accomplish their plan to destroy the innocent.
v13 He ensnared the wise in their own deception, and the counsel of the twisted deceiver is brought to an end unexpectedly.
v14 They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope about in the noontime as if it were night.
v15 So he saves the innocent from the sword that comes from their mouth, even the weak from the hand of the powerful.
v16 Thus the weak have hope, and injustice is shut down.
v17 “Therefore, blessed is the man whom God corrects, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
v18 For he wounds, but he also bandages; he strikes, but his hands also heal.
v19 He will deliver you from six calamities; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.
v20 In time of famine he will redeem you from death, and in time of war from the power of the sword.
21 You will be protected from malicious gossip, and will not be afraid of the destruction when it comes.
v22 You will laugh at destruction and famine and need not be afraid of the unrighteouss and lawless.
v23 For you will have a pact with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
v24 And you will know that your home will be secure, and when you inspect your domains, you will not be missing anything
v25 You will also know that your children will be numerous, and your descendants like the grass of the earth.
v26 You will come to your grave in a full age, As stacks of grain are harvested in their season.
v27 Look, we have investigated this, so it is true. Hear it, and apply it for your own good.”
We are presently in a study of satan's cosmic system, a system of arrogant demonic thinking that is comprised of lies and deceit from demonic viewpoint that since the fall in the Garden of Eden, separated from God in the darkness of spiritual death has become the viewpoint of the entire human race. 1Cor 2:14; Rev 12:9;
At this point in our study we are examining the various manifestations of the arrogance complex of satan's cosmic system. We have noted that arrogance creates weakness that makes the unbeliever susceptible to demon possession and the believer susceptible demon influence so arrogace is the point of satan's attack.
Before we stopped last time we had noted intrusion of existentialism into Christianity in our time is equivalent to the intrusion of Gnosticism in the first century.
The insertion of existentialism creates that arrogant assumption that that man's existence preceded his essence. This subjective assumption that infers that there is no God so man must fashion himself by himself.
Existentialism mixed with Christianity emphasizes the arrogant and subjective aspects of man as a creature of God. It glorifies man by saying that man is good and honorable by nature and birth and rejects the existence of the old sin nature and the total depravity and inability of man to seek God on his own. Rom 3:11-18;
This results in man seeking God through guilt motivation, that is one of man's strongest drives for seeking God while those who have no guilt seek God through intellectual, philosophical speculation.
Both of these result in the believer not seeking God through the perception of Bible doctrine (faith) that is the only way possible to seek God that also immediately eliminates both guilt motivation or intellectual philosophical speculation.
Such men including Kerkegard, Sarte, Barth, and Bruner who call themselves modern theologians, but who are really philosophical speculators advocate this arrogance.
They attempt to explain Christianity in terms of philosophical anthropocentric speculation instead of by teaching Doctrine. Their subjective approach to Doctrine is arrogance.
This arrogance functions in two categories: The first is the arrogance of the ignorant who oversimplify the solutions and panaceas to the problems of life that has the tendency to create conspiracy theories that because of envy blames all of the problems in life on some successful racial, ethnic, religious group such as blaming the Jews.
The second is arrogance of the brilliant intellectual who overestimates his own opinion. The arrogant intellectual offers opinions in areas out of his area of expertise and is jealous and resentful of anyone else whose academic attainments are greater than his own.
The antithesis of rational arrogance is emotional or irrational arrogance.
