Deut 30:15-20; "See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;
16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
17 "But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,
18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it.
19 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
20 by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."
Joshua 24:14-15; "Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.
15 "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Proverbs 14:11-12; The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish. (12) There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
Proverbs 29:1-2; A man who hardens his neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy. (2) When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.
2Chron 7:13-14; "If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, (14) and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
We are presently in a study of the doctrine of evil that is the product of believing the false narrative of the public lie aka darkness that satan, the god of this world, fabricates and asserts in his war against God's Word of truth aka light. Eph 6:12; 2Cor 10:5;
We have been noting the gates that people must pass through to enter into the evil hatred of satan's cosmic two system.
When we stopped last time we had noted that under God's permissive control He permits evil to run its course during the angelic conflict for the purpose of making satan's lie evident to all who have the doctrinal perspicacity to see it.
We see this principle in Prov 16:3-4; Evil is going to run its course in human history, but evil should never be a deterrent to a believer's spiritual growth because believers have the power from God to advance spiritually regardless of evil.
Isa 45:7; "The One forming light and creating darkness (God created Lucifer who became satan when he sinned and created darkness); the One manufacturing prosperity and the One creating the evil one; I am the Lord who does all of these things (Jesus Christ controls history)."
National destruction comes from the saturation of evil. A vigorous nation can sin vigorously, but that doesn't mean destruction will fall upon it because sin is not the issue; evil is.
In Lev 26:24-26; we see that the fourth cycle of discipline is economic disaster, and the fifth cycle of discipline is being taken over by a foreign power. Lev 26:31-39; Isa 47:10-11, "Because you have trusted in your evil . . . " is a description of a nation that has been taken over by evil like what is happening in the USA.
Nations that are influenced by evil are nations that have rejected the influence of Bible doctrine and the laws of divine establishment.
There are three things a nation must have for survival and blessing from God: the laws of divine establishment functioning within the framework of the government, evangelism, and believers who are advancing spiritually in local churches by means of pastor-teachers teaching doctrine. All of these are under assault in our country at this time.
Evil never understands the function of God's grace, Matt 19:27-30; In the Parable of the vineyard workers Matt 20:16; is particularly noteworthy regarding God's grace policy.
