Smyrna, the pivot for SPQR part 33

2Cor 4:1-18; Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart,
2 but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5 For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.

6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;

8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

11 For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12 So death works in us, but life in you.
13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed, therefore I spoke," we also believe, therefore we also speak,

14 knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and will present us with you.
15 For all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,
18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

In our study on Smyrna, the base of the pivot power for the first gentile client nation SPQR. We are in Rev 2:10; that starts with the mandate "not to fear what you are about to suffer"

When we stopped last time we were noting the imperative mood plus the negative of prohibition forbids the continuation of the fear that is a natural initial reaction to sudden unexpected undeserved suffering, adversity, or disaster.

With this we have the accusative neuter plural direct object from the relative pronoun "Do not fear what?" The word "what" is the issue, indicating the principle that fear represents the absence of working objects that are necessary for the faith-rest drill to function that results in inability to think under pressure.

Doctrinal working objects are the power of and sine que non of faith-rest because they displace all fear aka stress. Remember you can only displace stress with epignosis doctrine.

This emphasizes the fact that if you are going to execute God's plan as a believer in Jesus Christ, your life must be free from any form of stress because stress is the product of mental attitude sins that apart from rebound prevent the believer from maintaining fellowship with God the Holy Spirit.

The next word tells us to recognize who is true the source of this sudden undeserved suffering, opposition that results in testing for the purpose of being approved. James 1:12-13;

Rev 2:10; It begins with the aorist middle imperative, a form of the verb "idou", that means to look or see. But as a particle it becomes "iden," that is translated "behold," in the NASB and the KJV but it would probably be better to translate it into more modern English, like "note well," "recognize," or "understand or he NIV translation "I tell you."

This becomes a demonstrative particle and the subject is the nominative "diabolos" that is almost letter for letter transliterated as "devil." Not only is satan the source of the cosmic system but also through satan's cosmic influence there are periodic persecutions of believers when the nations reject Divine establishment truth like client nation USA is in the process of doing today.

This is why this same kind of persecution is beginning to happen in the USA that is the result of negative volition to divine establishment truth. With it we have the present active indicative of the verb "mello," that means "about to."

It could be translated: "I am telling you that the devil, (the lying accuser) is about to." The customary present tense denotes what habitually occurs, or may be reasonably expected to occur, when a believer lives under the ministry of God the Holy Spirit inside God's spiritual power system.

Believers living inside God's spiritual power system have advantages from learning God's Word of truth. Believers reside in God's power system by consistently applying doctrine under the ministry of God the Holy Spirit. Phil 2:12-15;

The filling of the Holy Spirit is the power for perception of God's Word of truth that provide the doctrinal working objects that are required to comply with God's mandates.

Basic impersonal love aka integrity creates the objectivity that is necessary for God's Word of truth to function.

Enforced and genuine humility establishes the ability to learn, believe, and use God's Word of truth

That means momentum from God's Word of truth is being developed that satan has to oppose with his cosmic system. God uses this opposition as the source of suffering for blessing under the principle of turning the curse into a blessing. Gen 50:20; Zech 4:6; 2Cor 12:9; 1Pet 3:14-18;
