Thanksgiving is predicated upon a mental attitude of gratitude

Thanksgiving is a mental attitude based on gratitude to God so today as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving Day we will interrupt our study of Romans to take up a brief study of Mental Attitude.

Phil 4:11-13; Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am (12) I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. (13) I can do all things through Him who keeps on strengthening me.

Col 3:16-17; Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Rom 8:6; The mind focused on the sin nature is raging discontentment, but the mind focused on the Spirit is tranquil contentment.

Gal 5:16; But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the cravings of the sin nature.
Mental attitude is the function of human thought. Your mental attitude is what you think at any given time. This means that the battlefield of your soul is engaged with thought

The only difference between Cain and Abel was their mental attitude. 1John 3:10-13;

The life of every human, believer or unbeliever, is in their mental attitude. Human experience is the product of what a person thinks that influences what they decide and ultimately determines what they do and how they do it.

God's power for believers is based in thought because God's viewpoint that determines the believer's mental attitude is the greatest conveyance of God's power in human history. This power is the mind of Christ that is contained in Bible doctrine. Eph 4:13;

This means that what you think is more important than anything else. Too many believers struggle through life as mindless losers because they are living by their emotions rather than doctrinal principles from God's Word of truth.

What counts is God's Word that establishes God's power from God's viewpoint in the stream of consciousness. Your life becomes what you think, not what you feel. Most believers today seek overt visible impact but they are ignorant of God's protocol plan.

Eph 1:19-20; "And what is the surpassing greatness of God's power to us who have believed for the delegation of His superior power that He has put into operation by means of Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heavenly places."

The average believer is uninformed about God's superior power or how God has delegated it to us through thought. We have a lot of mindless emotional activity rather than doctrinal thinking. Today there is very little doctrine being thought and that is unfortunate because God requires every believer do their own doctrinal thinking. In the Church Age God's power is focused on the individual.

This delegation of divine power depends on post-salvation renovation of the thinking. The delegation of this superior power comes in the form of thinking metabolized doctrine that is circulating in the stream of consciousness. This thinking is what creates and maintains privilege.

This system of thought called Bible doctrine produces mental attitude divine viewpoint that is based on the content of God's infallible Word of truth that is the thinking of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What you really are as a person is what you think, not what you appear to be on the surface, not the way you are dressed or groomed, but what goes on inside the invisible you, that is your soul.

You are not always what you appear to be on the surface. Some people can hide their thoughts better than others. People who hide their thoughts become adept at the practice of hypocrisy and deceit.

The real you is the thought content of your soul. Prov 23:7, "For as a person thinks in his soul "nephesh", so he is." Net notes 12, 13 and 14 The soul is the place where you think or do not think if you are operating on the basis of emotion. What you really are is what you think. Personality is not the real person; thought is.

God's Word of truth that is Bible doctrine is the thinking or the mind of Christ, 1Cor 2:16, "For who has known the thinking of the Lord that he should instruct Him, but we have the mind of Christ (the mystery doctrine of the Church Age)."

The conveyance of God's power to every Church Age believer is therefore Bible doctrine that has been metabolized and deployed on the defensive perimeter of your soul.

This power from God's Word of truth includes The amount o Bible Doctrine that resides and circulates in your thinking with emphasis on the mystery doctrine for the Church Age.

This power is communicated by God the Holy Spirit through the communication of the spiritual gift of pastor-teacher as the believer functions under enforced and genuine humility in the local assembly.

The believer acquires this power as they concentrate on doctrine as it is being taught. Concentration is a matter of your priorities in life. You have your own spiritual life and you must be motivated from your own spiritual life. Living your spiritual life is thinking divine viewpoint.

This means that all forms of worship including thanksgiving are a concentration test.

Concentration on the teaching of doctrine reflects four things in your life: The priorities in your life, the motivation in your life, your mental attitude in life, and your spiritual status quo in life.

God's power is conveyed via the thinking of Bible doctrine that is divine viewpoint.
John 4:24; states, "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in [the filling of the] Spirit and truth (metabolized doctrine)."

A thought (or lack of thought) can make or break you at any given moment, depending on whether your thought is human viewpoint or divine viewpoint. and in addition, your thinking can make or break your client nation. This is how believers are breaking client nation USA at this time.

1Cor 10:12; "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall."

Gal 6:3, "For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself."

Thinking is either the application of God's viewpoint from Bible doctrine to life or the application of arrogance and ignorance, which is human viewpoint from satan's comic system.

The difference between living in the cosmic system and advancing to maturity or not depends entirely on what you think.

The believer's thinking operates in one of two categories; divine viewpoint from the Bible doctrine and function in God's spiritual power system or human viewpoint from living in satan's cosmic system and functioning under satan's policy of good and evil.

Human viewpoint is the thinking of the believer who has neglected or rejected Bible doctrine. It is the thinking of the believer operating in satan's cosmic system under OSN control of the soul.

The arrogance skills hinder the function of divine viewpoint. This is why Scripture emphasizes the fact that God makes war against the arrogant believer but He gives grace to the humble believer, James 4:6; 1Pet 5:5;

Divine viewpoint is the thinking of the believer who is positive to Bible doctrine, the advancing believer, and the mature believer.

Divine viewpoint of life requires the function of thinking in three categories: Cognition that includes the function and the process of the inculcation of Bible doctrine, it is thinking that includes the application of metabolized doctrine and problem solving that requires understanding and use of God's problem solving devices that are required to make accurate and correct application of doctrine to your experience.

The thinking of the mature believer is different from the generally accepted thought patterns of the world. Therefore, the believer with divine viewpoint is set apart as unique. Uniqueness is reflected in their thought, decisions and actions because they comply with God's royal family honor code.

Mental attitude includes the principles of life on which you function. These principles are your motivation for your life. Speech and action is an expression of your thinking. Therefore, what you say and do is based on what you think

Thinking and speaking is a reflection of your priorities in life. Everything we do, everything we say, and even how we look reflects our thinking. Thought, speech, and action are a reflection of your mental attitude and motivation in life.

The greatest battle we have in life is the battle in our soul. This is why it is so important to have God's spiritual problem solving devices arrayed on the perimeter of your soul. Good changes in history are made on the basis of what you think. The content of your thinking is the most important thing about you. Too many believers today are confused in their thinking so their thinking is destructive.

The spiritual skills require the fulfillment of God's mandates regarding mental attitude viewpoint. These are the mandates related to the first spiritual skill, the filling of the Spirit, the mandate related to perception of Bible doctrine and the mandates related to the use of the ten problem solving devices.

So as we celebrate Thanksgiving day this year let's be sure we are operating under the spiritual skills so our thanksgiving is not only ritual is also reality because we have a doctrinal mental attitude. 1Thess 5:18; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
