In our verse by verse study of Romans we are at the last phrase of Rom 7:10; "found to result in death for me" - the aorist passive indicative of "hurisko" (to discover, to recognize, to find). It is used for an intellectual discovery based on reflection, observation, examination or investigation.
We will translate it as "the same was discovered." The aorist tense is a constantive aorist for an action extended over a period of time. The action is the study of the Mosaic Law that is gathered up into one entirety.
The 10 commandments identify the problem, everything in the ritual plan of the Mosaic Law addresses the solution. It was studied over a period of time until it was understood. The passive voice: the subject receives the action of the verb.
The apostle Paul received the action of the verb through diligent study of the rituals. The indicative mood is declarative representing the verbal action from the viewpoint of reality.
Plus the word "moi" (in me) that is the instrumental of agency from the personal pronoun "ego."
Again, because of the ellipses we have to insert a verb in the English because we have "eis" (into) a preposition of pointing plus the accusative singular of "thanatos" (death) referring to spiritual death from the sin nature plus "houtos" (this).
Expanded Translation Rom 7:10; "And that commandment that was to result in life (eternal) life, results in death for me."
Rom 7:11; "For the sin (the sin nature), taking occasion by the commandment." This begins with the explanatory use of the conjunctive particle "gar" (for) with the nominative singular subject "hamartia"(sin) with the definite article "ho" (the), referring to the sin nature as the first husband.
"Taking opportunity by the commandment" is, having grasped seized the opportunity. This is the aorist active participle from the verb "lambano" (grasp or to seize).
This word is left out of the NASB and the KJV but included the NIV and the NET.
This is a dramatic aorist tense which states a present reality with the certitude of a past event. This idiom is a device for emphasis and is used for a state that has just been realized, a result which has just been accomplished or on the point of being accomplished.
The active voice: the sin nature produces the action of the verb. With this is the accusative singular direct object from the noun "aphorme" (opportunity, the starting point, the base of operations for an expedition).
It also takes into view the resources needed to carry out the operation, so it is often used in the ancient Greek language to describe capital or resources. "For the sin nature seizing the opportunity."
Inside of each one of us is the old sin nature that never loses its aggressiveness until the day that we are separated from it by physical death or the exit resurrection.
What was the opportunity? Learning what the sin nature was. Learning about lust "by the commandment," the preposition "dia" (through) plus the genitive of "entole" with the definite article "ho' (the) translated "through the commandment."
This is monadic so it is a specific reference to the 10th commandment of the Mosaic Law that informs us that lust or covetousness is the connecting link between the lust patterns of the old sin nature and the production of sin, human good, and evil.
We see from this that the old sin nature uses the prohibition "you will not covet or lust" to assert its authority over mankind through sponsoring disobedience and revolt against the tenth commandment.
The Mosaic Law as a marriage counselor to mankind tells us no tot lust. But the first husband, the old sin nature counters with lust in every category. The Mosaic Law by prohibiting lust is a good marriage counselor because it did its job properly by telling us the truth.
The first husband by demanding that we lust was a terrible husband, ruling through spiritual death. Every category of lust refers to the trends of the old sin nature that rules us as the first husband.
For example, the trend toward sin includes covetousness, lasciviousness, killer lust, revenge lust and the lust to be right. The trend toward human good and evil includes approbation lust, power lust, the lust to kill and the lust to assuage a guilt complex.
The OSN indwells the body because it is genetically formed in the cell structure of the body, including the brain that is programmed for human viewpoint until it is reprogrammed with God's Word of Truth.
The OSN is belligerent and aggressive when the Mosaic Law commands us to cease and desist from lust.
When you do something wrong in ignorance there is no corruption because even though you are wrong because you are ignorant it is not a corrupting principle.
But once you know that you shouldn't do it and you still do it doing it is not only wrong but also now in addition you have added corruption to doing it because you have rejected the authority that told you not to do it.
For example: When you see a sign that says, "Don't step on the grass "it immediately arouses the corruption in you and you want to deliberately step on the grass. This is a symptom of being corrupted, and you are corrupted by your own power that is the independent authority, to do something that is forbidden.
So after you understand the issue and you do it anyway you are now also being corrupted by the sin because you are being corrupted away from the true principles of authority.
So to do something when you know it is wrong is worse because of your rejection of authority.
So using the 10th commandment as an opportunity to flaunt its sovereignty over biological human life the old sin nature foments in the biological human being every category of lust, and that lust metastasizes into sin, human good, and evil when the choice is made to follow through.
The OSN uses the 10th commandment to exercise its authority in biological human life, and it succeeds thereby destroying those principles which keep us and protect us under establishment authority.
"deceived me" the aorist active indicative of "exapatao"(deceive, seduce or cheat). It was used to describe the serpent's deception in the garden in 2Cor 11:3; and 1Tim 2:14.

The deception includes the fact that marriage to the sin nature from physical birth means we are dead to God spiritually. Before man can be alive to God he must be dead, divorced or separated from the old sin nature that remains in us and very much active in us for our entire physical life.
This death or separation is positionally accomplished at salvation through the baptism of the Holy Spirit and retroactive positional truth. It is experientially accomplished with the mind of Christ through the PMA of God's Word of truth under the teaching ministry of God the Holy Spirit.
Man is deceived by the old sin nature's trends toward human good and evil into the delusion that the old sin nature can actually produce what is pleasing to God.
The old sin nature's inciting of the production of human good and evil deludes the entire human race into thinking that lust and gratification of that lust is justified.
This is the predicate for every system of human good and evil, including religion and religiosity, socialism, the welfare state, communism, and all of the Marxist theories.
While people think that they are accomplishing the greater good for the greater number of people they are reality creating evil to satisfy their lust patterns and as a result they serve satan as the ruler of this world.
This religious rationalism is the basis for the terrible evils that have come into existence in contemporary history. Human good is a deception, a delusion, and a rationalization that is the function of the lust patterns of the old sin nature.
The tenth commandment keeps on warning us not lust. But the old sin nature counters by insisting that it is justifiable to lust in order to establish a new world order. Even the though the new world order is a system of lust in the field of human good and evil.
The so called new world order of socialism, Marxism, communism, is inspired by satan himself as the ruler of this world and is a desirable function for the old sin nature as the ruler of human life.
"and by it killed me" - the connective use of the conjunction "kai" (and), and the prepositional phrase "dia" (by or through) plus the genitive of the intensive pronoun "autos" (it): "and through it it killed (me)."
This is the attributive use of the intensive pronoun the means through the same tenth commandment. Plus the aorist active indicative from the verb "apokteino" (kill), describing the killing of a sacrifice or depriving a person of either natural life or spiritual life. Here it means to destroy and to annihilate.
The aorist tense is a constantive aorist that gathers together into one entirety the function of the old sin nature in breaking through the authority of the Mosaic Law to set up a rationalization.
The old sin nature misrepresents spiritual death as hopeless and without solution that is the greatest issue in history. Man always thinks there is a solution to everything apart from God, so that is the delusion set up by the old sin nature.
The active voice: the old sin nature distorts the 10th commandment, rejects God's authority and continues to rule through spiritual death. The OSN is the corrupting influence in life. The indicative mood is the reality of the old sin nature ruling through spiritual death from the moment of physical birth.
The sovereignty over human life is established as an authority for sin, human good, and evil through the imputation of Adam's original sin to the genetically formed old sin nature at physical birth.
This authority operates as the evil authority in opposition to God's righteous authority.
The old sin nature misrepresents spiritual death as hopeless and without solution. The old sin nature alleges that God's justice is the enemy of the human race because of His perfect righteousness and justice but in reality it is God's justice that it is the only source of true blessing for the human race first through condemnation, and then through blessing by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Condemnation must precede justification and salvation. Without condemnation from God's justice there can be no justification from God's justice. Condemnation is necessary for the construction of the grace pipeline at salvation. There was no grace for the human race until first there was condemnation.
So the first husband, the OSN, uses the Mosaic Law to distort the truth about God and keep the wife, the human race, under its rule. Remember that the old sin nature is the sovereign of biological human life and rules through spiritual death from physical birth.
