The book of Romans part 281, Rom 7:15;

In our verse by verse study of Romans last time we just started on Rom 7:15; "For what I am doing I do not understand." The explanatory use of the conjunctive particle "gar" (for) that begins an explanation as to why the believer is the culprit after salvation similar to the way the old sin nature is the culprit before salvation and continues to be a problem after salvation.

With it is the nominative neuter singular from the relative pronoun "hos" (what), plus the present middle indicative of the verb "katergazomai" (do, achieve, to accomplish, to bring about, or to produce). It generally refers to working on something until it is finally finished, and is therefore achieved so we have" for what I accomplish."

This is the present tense of duration that describes something that happens in the past with results that continue up to the present time. It describes a fleshly or carnal believer who has compromised the second marriage to the Lord Jesus Christ by going back under the control of the old sin nature, the ex-husband.

It is a middle voice of a deponent verb that functions as an active voice. Paul describes himself as producing the action of the verb that represents the situation of the fleshly or carnal believer who is under OSN control of the soul.

The indicative mood is declarative so it presents a verbal idea from the viewpoint of reality. It is a reference to the achievement of the second marriage, in the Christian way of life that is real accomplishment that is frustrated, compromised and stopped because the OSN has successfully taken over the decision-making processes of the believer's soul.

Protracted carnality goes on to metastasize into reversionism so the believer is not advancing to spiritual maturity through the daily function of GASP. Remember that carnality is not necessarily active sinning. Sinning gets us out of fellowship but it does not metastasize into reversionism unless you stay out of fellowship.

In other words, rebound within a reasonable amount of time resolves the problem of carnality before it gets entrenched. The trends of the old sin nature is only stopped by the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit it cannot be stopped by self-determination because self determination without the filling of the spirit is crusader arrogance from the strong side of the sin nature stopping the weak side of the sin nature.

So carnality or being fleshly is the believer who refuses God's grace solution and remains out of fellowship with God the Holy Spirit. Reversionism is the next stage where the believer gets into the sin nature trends of human good and evil because of their carnality.

Then we have the phrase "I do not understand" the negative adverb "ou" (not) plus the present active indicative of "ginosko" (to know) so we have "I do not know" or" I do not understand."

The present tense is an aoristic present for momentary action at the present time. Paul describes himself as producing the action of representing the situation of the carnal fleshly and reversionistic believer.

The aoristic present describes the event as presently occurring; Paul is describing himself as carnal and reversionistic in order to make this very personal. "For what I am doing I do not understand."

Paul is using himself to describe a carnal reversionistic believer who does not understand why he is not growing spiritually from his disorientation God's plan. He is representing himself as a carnal reversionistic believer.

In this situation Paul cannot comprehend why he is not advancing to spiritual maturity that is God's objective for every believer after salvation. He cannot comprehend his confusion.

He cannot understand why he is not receiving the blessings from God's justice that God's word promises to the mature believer. Paul is describing himself as not fulfilling the purpose for God's imputation of God's own righteousness to him in time.

God's imputed righteousness is the predicate for God's justice to convey super grace blessings from God's justice in spiritual maturity and since they have not been conveyed so he is saying, Why not?

Paul is not fulfilling the purpose of the believer's second marriage to the Lord Jesus Christ.

"for I do not do what I want" the postpositive conjunctive particle "gar" (for) is used to express a cause or a reason. It is translated " for or because."

Then the nominative neuter singular from the relative pronoun "hos" (what) plus the present active indicative of the verb "thelo" (desire or want) referring to a legitimate desire, in contrast to lust or covetousness. It is describing a legitimate desire based upon motivation from Bible Doctrine and the filling of the Spirit.

The historical present tense is used when a past event is viewed with the clarity of a present situation. So he is going back to those moments after salvation when he wanted to glorify God. The indicative mood is declarative representing the verbal idea from the viewpoint of reality.

Remember that Paul is acting as a representative of carnality and reversionism to explain the action that is produced.

Then the nominative plural subject from the demonstrative pronoun "houtos" (this or these), that is a reference to the daily function of GASP under the ministry of the Holy Spirit that is how spiritual maturity is attained.

Plus the present active indicative of "prasso" (to practice or to accomplish), with the negative "ou" (not) so we have "these things I am not accomplishing." This is a tendential present tense that is used to describe an action that is desired and attempted but is not happening.

The active voice plus the negative represents the fact that the carnal or reversionistic believer, as represented here by Paul, is not accomplishing the objective of advancing to spiritual maturity.

This is a potential indicative of obligation that points to what is expected in reality, but contingency is introduced because of negative volition toward Bible Doctrine and failure keep on being filled with the spirit by not confessing known sins.

Paul represents himself as resolving to advance spiritually, desiring to please Christ and wanting to take in doctrine in order to achieve the objective.

All of these good intentions are neutralized by the machinations of the old sin nature, with its trends toward sin, human good and evil but the sin nature can do nothing apart from the volition of the believer and in this situation the believer is deceived into following the OSN but remember people are only deceived because they really want to believe the lie.

The trend toward sin is quickly solved by rebounding through confession of any known sin to God. When practiced rebound insulates against carnality. The trend toward human good and evil can only be solved by consistent positive volition toward God's Word of truth under the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit

"but what I hate, that I am doing" the adversative conjunction "alla" (but) sets up a contrast between what Paul resolves or desires to do as a believer in the second marriage and what he is actually doing in going back to the sin nature, the ex-husband.

The ex-husband is saying nice things that lure the confused wife back to the miserable relationship of the first marriage. With this is the nominative singular of the relative pronoun "hos" (what) with the present active indicative of the verb "miseo" (hate) that means to detest so it is an intensified hate.

The present tense describes what is going on at the moment. It is also known as the pictorial present since its distinctive force presents to the mind of the reader a picture of events that are in the process of occurring.

The active voice: the normal attitude of the believer toward the first husband, the old sin nature, is to detest it. The indicative mood is a potential indicative of obligation, since the believer should detest the old sin nature and love the second husband, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Plus the nominative plural subject from the immediate demonstrative pronoun "hotos" *this or these things) with the present active indicative of the verb "poieo" (I keep doing). This is a retroactive progressive present that describes what started in past and continues into the present.

The active voice: the reversionistic believer produces the action of the verb. Paul as the human author is describing himself as a reversionist even though he is not actually a reversionist at this point because he is writing scripture. The indicative mood is declarative representing the verbal action from the viewpoint of reality.

Expanded Translation Rom 7:15; ""For what I accomplish I do not understand: because what I desire to do, these things I am not accomplishing; but what I detest, these things I keep on doing."

In this verse we see a reference to either sinfulness without rebound or the reaction to that sinfulness by the OSN that results in the production of human good that metastasizes into evil.

This production is the result of the "wife" in the second marriage returning to the ex-husband, the old sin nature, because what the sin nature is recommending sounds better to her than the Bible Doctrine that second husband, the Lord Jesus Christ is recommending sounds.

The linear action indicates that the believer is consistent in following the trends of the old sin nature, rather than following the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, the second husband.

Obedience to imputed righteousness demands consistent perception of God's Word of Truth under the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit from rebound when necessary to produce experiential righteousness.

The verse describes the successful attack of the ex-husband on the believer's volition. The culprit is the believer with negative volition who wants to believe the lies of the OSN.

The OSN has overcome the determination of the believer by leading him into activity that he does not understand and he often despises, but in spite of that continues to do it because of the rejection the filling of God the Holy Spirit from the rejection of rebound that causes the believer to reject God's Word of Truth that is the thinking of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, the attack of the ex-husband succeeds apart from the believer operating under logistical grace. The believer who is separated from God's provision of logistical grace has no defense against the seductive deceitful lies that are suggested by the ex-husband.

This means the use of rebound is necessary in order keep on being filled with the Spirit. The daily function of GASP is necessary because it provides all of the information that is needed for the advance.

To do and to keep on doing the things you do not want to do is an obvious warning of the inner conflict between the two husbands.

The first husband is the old sin nature, and though divorced through retroactive positional truth it desperately continues its activity inside of every believer. He is trying to seduce the believer under his authority and into the deceptive trends of sin, good, and evil.

The second husband, the Lord Jesus Christ, is standing by to provide the most fantastic blessings through maturity adjustment to God's justice.

Choosing to experientially place yourself under orders to Jesus Christ, the second husband through the daily function of GASP is to turn away from temporary stimulation and fake happiness of the devil's world offers into a perfect, temporal and eternal happiness provided by God's justice through the imputation of God's righteousness.

There is no way for the believer to break out of the dilemma apart from the filling of the Holy Spirit and the daily function of GASP. Only the filling of the Spirit and Bible Doctrine resident in the soul's stream of consciousness can break the power and the influence of the old sin nature in physical life.

While instant provision for sin is provided through rebound there is no instant or immediate solution to function in human good and evil because that requires maximum doctrine resident in the believer's thinking that only comes from consistent persistent function under God's GASP system.
