In our study of Romans we are presently between chapters 7 and 8 in a topical study of spirituality.
Last time we noted that "being spiritual" refers to the believer in the absolute status quo of the filling of the Spirit. A believer is spiritual when the power of the filling of the Holy Spirit is controlling the believer's soul.
The spiritual skill of the filling of the Spirit is the function of the Holy Spirit related to the believer residing inside of God's spiritual power system.
The adjective "spiritual" has several meanings depending on the noun it modifies. It can be used to refer to a believer filled with the Spirit or to a believer who has attained spiritual adulthood from the PMA of doctrine.
Since believers are filled with the Spirit at salvation, why dies God's Word command believers to keep on being filled with the Spirit in Eph 5:18?
It is because the first time we commit personal sin after salvation, we lose the filling of the Holy Spirit even though we are irrevocably indwelled by and sealed by the Holy Spirit.
In the status of post-salvation sinning, God the Holy Spirit still indwells the believer's body and guarantees their eternal salvation but He does not control the believer's soul that means He does not control the believer's life.
The Holy Spirit being in control of the believer's soul is the sine que non of the post salvation spiritual life so to fulfill God's objectives after salvation the believer's soul must be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The filling of the Holy Spirit is recovered through the function of the rebound technique, 1 John 1:9. Being restored fellowship with God the Holy Spirit through rebound means that we recover the filling of the Holy Spirit and that restores us into life inside of God's spiritual power system where the believer fulfills God's plan for their life.
The purpose of the filling of the Holy Spirit is for the perception of Bible doctrine, the execution of God's protocol plan, and the glorification of God as an invisible hero in our sin infused physical body in the adversity of the devil's world.
The Holy Spirit is given to every believer because the cognition of Bible doctrine and the execution of the protocol plan is impossible with only human perception regardless of how smart a person is. 1Cor 2:14;
The unbeliever is in spiritual death and the believer out of fellowship is in carnal and cosmic death and no natural human can properly understand God's Word so the filling of the Spirit is required for humans to properly understand anything about God.
The Holy Spirit provides the divine omnipotence, the divine perception that is the enabling power that is required for believers to properly understand, analyze and apply God's Word of Truth.
The filling of the Spirit is an absolute state. At any given moment the believer is either filled with the Spirit or in carnal death. The filling of the Spirit and carnality are mutually exclusive. The cognition and inculcation of Bible doctrine that results in the various stages of growth is the relative concept of a person's function in spirituality.
A carnal believer or believer in Christian degeneracy cannot lose his salvation. The forty things God gives to every believer at salvation can never be cancelled by the believer's failure.
2Cor 3:3; describes a concept of imitation in the spiritual life because the spiritual believer imitates the function of the humanity of Jesus Christ in the dispensation of the Hypostatic Union.
Spirituality is described as imitating God in 2Pet 1:4; and Eph 5:1, "Therefore, become imitators of God as beloved children." Without the filling ministry of God the Spirit It is impossible for believers to become imitators of God.
The carnal cosmic believer imitates the unbeliever so the carnal cosmic believer cannot be distinguished from the unbeliever by another believer. Only God knows who is His so believers are not to judge.
Carnality and reversionism is the believer imitating the unbeliever, 1Cor 3:3; Gal 5:19-21; 1John 1:6;
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you imitate the humanity of God the Son inside God's spiritual power system and we become letters of Christ read by men when we live our life filled with the Holy Spirit.
A believer in carnality commits personal sins just like an unbeliever does so when a believer is carnal the believer acts just like an unbeliever with similar sin nature trends.
A believer can commit any personal sin that an unbeliever can commit. The Christian way of life is a supernatural way of life that must be executed by a supernatural power. That power is the filling of the Holy Spirit in synergy with spirit taught epignosis Bible doctrine.
Anything an unbeliever does is not spiritual so anything the unbeliever can do is not the Christian way of life. That means that legalism; ritualism, emotionalism, morality or any other form of religious activity is not the Christian way of life.
Spirituality is the exclusive function of the believer operating in their royal priesthood. The believer filled with the Spirit is not subject to the Mosaic Law because he is under a higher law that is called the Law of Christ because it is based on the mind of Christ or the Law of the Spirit because it requires the filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, spirituality is not subject to the Mosaic Law or the Levitical Priesthood, Gal 5:18,23; Rom 8:2-4; Rom10: 4; Rom 13:8.
The filling of the Holy Spirit completely fulfills the Mosaic Law. The Law condemns but the filling of the Holy Spirit produces the character of Jesus Christ in the dispensation of the Hypostatic Union, Gal 4:19; Gal 5:22-23; 1John 2:5-6; This explains that a spiritual life is required to fulfill the Mosaic Law.
The filling of the Spirit is what distinguishes the production of divine good from dead human good works. Any good thing done without the filling of the Spirit is classified as a dead human good work.
The spiritual believer produces divine good that is classified as "gold, silver, and precious stones" in 1Cor 3:12,14. The carnal cosmic believer produces dead works that is classified as "wood, hay, and stubble" in 1Cor 3:12,15.
The filling of the Holy Spirit distributes epignosis spirit taught Bible doctrine to the various compartments of the believer's heart, the right lobe of the soul.
The filling of the Holy Spirit also recalls doctrine into the soul's frame of reference, so that new doctrine can be built upon doctrines that have already been learned. This is why the filling of the Holy Spirit is necessary to properly learn Bible doctrine.
Filling of the Holy Spirit results in the believer functioning in following activities:
Residence, momentum, and function inside the God's spiritual power system under the enabling power of the Spirit that can be classified as the Church Age believer functioning in partnership with the Holy Spirit, Eph 4:3-4; Phil 2:2.
Cognition of doctrine, John 14:26; John 16:12-14; 1Cor 2:9-16;
Imitation of the humanity of Jesus Christ as He functioned in the dispensation of the Hypostatic Union, Eph 5:1; Gal 4:19; 5:22-23;
The glorification of Christ in the body, John 7:39; John 16:14; 1Cor 6:19-20;
Christ being magnified in the inner life of the believer, Eph 3:16-17; 2Cor 3:3; Phil 1:20-21;
Guidance and assurance from God's Word regarding God's protocol plan for your life, Rom 8:14-16;
The true function of worship in the church, the Body of Christ, John 4:24; Phil 3:3.
The production of divine good, 1Cor 3:12-14; that results in; effective witnessing, Acts 1:8; and effective prayer, Eph 6:18.
Without the filling of the Holy Spirit, there can be no contentment, no personal sense of destiny, no occupation with Christ, and therefore no tranquility in life.
Under the law of volitional responsibility, grieving and quenching the Holy Spirit guarantees a life of self-induced misery that results in eight principles of unhappiness that are caused by the failure to be filled with the Spirit.
If you are not content with what you have now, you will never be content with what you have in the future. Contentment is based on the filling of the Holy Spirit and inculcation of Bible doctrine so you cannot have contentment without the filling of the Holy Spirit and inculcation of Bible doctrine. Luke 11:28;
Contentment is based on capacity for life from Bible doctrine and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Contentment is not based on human success, prosperity, or wealth.
Discontent metastasizes into malcontent. If every wish, dream, and desire of your soul were given to you without the filling of the Spirit and Bible doctrine, you would still be miserable because you have no capacity for it.
The only true happiness in life comes from capacity for life. Capacity for life and happiness depends on the filling of the Holy Spirit and cognition of Bible doctrine. "The fruit of the Spirit is happiness." Gal 5:22;
God provides capacity for life and happiness at each stage of the believer's spiritual advance and growth through the filling of the Spirit and metabolized doctrine in the believer's soul.
Progress in God's protocol plan means that the filling of the Holy Spirit balances the capacity for what you possess with the enjoyment of what you possess.
Capacity for life increases with spiritual advance. Capacity for life comes from the filling of the Spirit combined with metabolized spirit taught epignosis doctrine in the heart, the right lobe of the soul.
We see from this that there are alternatives in life that are based in the decisions that we make: to believe in Jesus Christ for eternal salvation John 3:16; or spend eternity in the Lake of Fire John 3:18, 36;
We can make Bible doctrine our number one priority in life or live a life in ignorance of God's Word of Truth. Ignorance is biggest problem of life.
We can get under the ministry of a pastor who teaches Bible doctrine and acquire the spiritual skills (the filling of the Spirit, cognition of doctrine, execution of God's protocol plan) or live a life of confusion and failure to glorify God. Believers are not designed to live without God's Word.
We can learn and use the problem solving devices of God's protocol plan or live a life of misery and unhappiness because we have no capacity for life.
We can choose to die well under dying grace or to die under dying discipline and maybe even the sin unto death.
It is imperative that we understand the distinctions between the indwelling of the Spirit and the filling of the Holy Spirit because the function of the indwelling and the function of the filling of the Holy Spirit are not the same.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit functions inside the human body and is permanent and irrevocable. The filling of the Spirit functions inside the human spirit and is transient or temporary because it is conditional.
The purpose of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is to provide a temple in our bodies for the indwelling of Jesus Christ as God's Shekinah Glory. This is the same glory that resided in Israel's tabernacle and the temple.
The indwelling of the Spirit is related to the believer's body and taught in 1Cor 3:16; 1Cor 6:19-20; and 2Cor 6:16.
Jesus Christ indwells our bodies as the Shekinah Glory, as a guarantee of God's blessing. He could not indwell our bodies where the old sin nature resides unless God the Holy Spirit provided a temple for Him so when we are born again the Holy Spirit creates a temple in our bodies for the residence of God' the Son.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is directed toward God and it is permanent so it is not affected by the believer's temporal transient experiential status in carnality or spirituality. Every believer is always indwelled by the Holy Spirit regardless of their temporal status quo.
The words translated "unction" and "anointing" in various translations of the Bible are synonymous with the "indwelling" of the Holy Spirit, not the filling or the baptism of the Spirit.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit breaks the uninterrupted rule of the old sin nature experientially through the function of current positional truth, just as the baptism of the Holy Spirit breaks the old sin nature's uninterrupted rule positionally through the momentary application of retroactive and current positional truth, Gal 5:17.
On the other hand, the filling of the Holy Spirit is related to the believer's residence in God's spiritual power system, and to function of God's power in believer's soul.
When the Holy Spirit controls the believer's soul, that believer is described as being spiritual that means being filled with the Spirit.
When the believer is operating inside God's spiritual power system, that believer is described as being filled with the Spirit.
We see from this that the indwelling of the Spirit relates to the believer's body and the filling of the spirit relates to the believer's soul and the ability to deploy and operate in God's spiritual power system.
The purpose for the filling of the Holy Spirit is to provide the believer the enabling power for the execution of God's protocol plan through consistent PMA of spirit taught epignosis Bible doctrine.
Just as the enabling power of the Holy Spirit is necessary for common and efficacious grace in salvation the enabling power of the Holy Spirit is necessary for the cognition of the doctrine necessary to function in and execute God's protocol plan.
Believers cannot do anything in God's plan apart from the filling of the Spirit because God's plan is spiritual.
The filling of the Spirit is directed toward the believer's weak humanity. It is how God conveys the potential to deploy His power in weak human beings. 2Cor 12:10;
It is temporary or transient, depending on whither God the Holy Spirit or sin nature experientially controls the believer's soul at any given moment.
