The book of Romans part 313; spirituality

https://youtu.be/pJvxHzmW7v4

In our verse-by-verse study of Romans we are between chapters 7 and 8 in a topical study of spirituality.

Last time we were noting 1John 1:7-10 where we see in verse 7 that true Christian fellowship between believers is predicated on believers functioning under the enabling power of the Holy Spirit inside of God's spiritual power system.

In verse 9 the present active subjunctive of "homologeo" means to admit, confess, acknowledge, name, or cite that tells us that we simply specify any sin we can remember that we've committed because all sins have already been judged on the cross.

The pictorial present brings to mind a picture of rebound in the process of occurrence. When we are believers out of fellowship, we produce the action of the verb by simply naming our sins to God.

The potential subjunctive expresses an element of contingency because you must understand how to rebound before you can do it. The judgment that was needed for forgiveness has already been accomplished on the cross. We simply name a sin that has already been judged and we are forgiven.

"He is faithful" means God always does exactly the same thing without variation because He already judged that sin on the cross He is just because forgiving our sins does not compromise God's perfect righteousness because Jesus has already paid the penalty for that sin on the cross.

He "purifies us from all unrighteousness" means that all of the sins that we have committed in ignorance are forgiven at the same time when we confess our sins of cognizance. This means full restoration to the God's spiritual power system and being filled with the Spirit again.

Rejecting the concept of rebound by grace is blasphemy because it alleges that God's Word of Truth is a lie and alleging that God a liar is blasphemy.

1Cor 11:31, "If we judge ourselves, we shall not be judged." Before we partake of the communion, we evaluate ourselves, judge ourselves and rebound if necessary, so that we will not be judged.

Eph 5:14-17, "Wake up, sleeper! Rise up from the dead (rebound from temporal death in satan's cosmic system), and Christ will shine on you.

v15 Therefore, be alert regarding accuracy how you walk, not as foolish ones but as wise ones;

v16 purchasing the time because the days are evil.

v17 Therefore, stop being a fool but understand what God's will is."

Eph 5:18, "And stop being drunk with wine which is dissipation, but keep on being filled with (controlled by) the Spirit."

The present passive imperative of "pleroo" has several meaning related to "filling" something up.

It means to fill up a deficiency as in the filling of the Holy Spirit inside God's spiritual power system where the spirit fills up the believer's deficiency from their ignorance of the mystery doctrine of the Church Age.

To fully possess the filling of the Holy Spirit means you fully possess the omnipotence of the Holy Spirit in the enabling power for execution of God's plan. The Christian way of life is a supernatural way of life so it demands a supernatural power to do it. The power of God Holy Spirit is required for it to be done.

To fill up with a certain quality means that the filling of the Spirit inside of God's spiritual power system provides the quality necessary to execute it. That quality is God's power.

To fully influence means at the filling of the Spirit inside of God's spiritual power system fully influences us so that metabolized doctrine is produced. Metabolized doctrine is necessary for the believer to have God's viewpoint, spiritual growth, and momentum that results in the manufacture of an invisible spiritual hero.

The verb "pleroo" is an iterative present tense is a tense that refers to repeated action. It describes what occurs at various successive intervals of time. It does not imply that we are always filled with the Spirit because when we succumb to temptation from the sin nature and sin, we remove ourselves from God's spiritual power system and enter into satan's cosmic system.

In too many cases today, this could more accurately be called a tendential present tense for an action contemplated, proposed, or attempted but is definitely not taking place because of the ignorance of the doctrine of spirituality by grace.

The problem today is that too many believers cannot properly answer the simple question; "After salvation, then what?" The correct answer is "After salvation, keep on being filled with the spirit."

Because of the imperative mood, this can also be described as a durative present tense, that is also known as the progressive present for an action in progress or a state of persistence. That describes a positive believer fulfilling the command.

The passive voice tells us that the believer receives the action of the verb at salvation when God the Holy Spirit enters every believer into the operational version of God's spiritual power system. This is one of the seven ministries of God the Holy Spirit at salvation.

Subsequently when the believer commits personal sin, the believer is out of God's spiritual power system. But he can reenter through God's grace provision the problem-solving device of rebound so the believer receives the action of the verb in grace totally apart from any human merit, penance, being sorry, or any system of reform.

This is the imperative mood of command so it is a divine mandate to enter and remain in God's spiritual power system, and when you sin your way out of it to reenter it through rebound.

The Greek preposition "en" plus the instrumental of agency from "pneuma" means "by means of the Spirit" so it is telling us that we are to "be filled with or actually (by means of) the Spirit."

There is a similar parallel command in 2Pet 3:18: that has to do with the result of this process. "Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever."

The mechanics for recovery from sin nature control of the soul is the use of the rebound technique. Rebound is the technical term that describes the recovery of the filling of the Spirit and recovery of fellowship with God.

The first time a believer sins after salvation, he loses the filling of the Spirit and fellowship with God and quenching and/or grieving the Spirit replaces the filling of the Spirit.

Loss of the filling of the Spirit means the believer is outside of God's spiritual power system so the believer's soul is controlled by the sin nature. God the Holy Spirit indwells the body of the Church Age believer. The old sin nature also indwells the believer's body. So the major issue for the Church Age believer after salvation is: Will God or satan control the believer's life?

Satan wants you to do human good; God wants you to do divine good.

The guard at the gate of our soul is our volition. The old sin nature presents constant temptations to our soul, and our volition chooses for or against those temptations.

When first saved, the Holy Spirit enters us into God's spiritual power system through the filling of the Spirit, so initially He controls our soul so we are spiritual. The first time we sin, the Holy Spirit no longer controls our soul but instead the old sin nature controls our soul so that we are described as being carnal.

The origin of every sin you commit is your volition. It is not sinful to be tempted. It is sinful when your volition accedes to that temptation you sin. So at any given moment your volition decides whether you are controlled by God Holy Spirit or by your old sin nature.

You must use your volition again to recover your status inside of God's spiritual power system so that the Holy Spirit again controls your soul. You must use your volition to use God's recovery method in 1John 1:9.

Recovery of fellowship with God was the same in the Old Testament as it is in the New Testament.

Psa 32:5, "I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, `I will acknowledge my transgression to the Lord.' And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. How about that (Selah)?"

1John 1:9; "If we acknowledge our sins to God, He is faithful and righteous with the result that He forgives us our (known) sins and He purifies us from all wrongdoing (the unknown sins)."

All the sins of human history were imputed to Jesus Christ on the cross and judged by God the Father's justice so Jesus Christ's work on the cross provides salvation, and restored fellowship with God.

The way of salvation is faith in Jesus Christ. The way of spirituality is to cite or name the known sins in our life that took us out of fellowship with God. This is the only way we can reenter God's spiritual power system through the filling of the Spirit, so that Holy Spirit controls our soul making us spiritual.

Those sins we cite already went to court and were judged so 1John 1:9; says we simply "homologeo" our sins that means to cite as in a courtroom case, to name or to acknowledge the sin or sins.

Every believer is a priest who represents himself before God. So in the privacy of his own priesthood, the believer simply names the sins he has committed, and "God is faithful (God always does the same thing) and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

That's the only way anyone can ever recover spirituality.

Apart from this rebound technique, we would be carnal from the first time we sinned after salvation and there would be no plan of God for our lives, no spirituality, and no divine good production.

There has to be a grace system for recovering fellowship. Yet just as there are so many false Gospels being declared that add human works or gimmicks to faith in Christ, so there are many erroneous ideas of what we must do to be spiritual.

If you add anything to faith in Christ, that is no salvation but people want to help God, but God doesn't need our help! Just as He provided everything necessary for our salvation He also provides everything necessary for the recovery of fellowship after salvation.

Therefore, spirituality is a matter of using the rebound technique. As long as we live on this earth, we will continue to commit sins. Of course, you must learn what sin is in order to identify the sins you commit.

We do not reach sinless perfection in this life. The closest we come is positional sanctification, whereby we are entered into union with Christ at the moment of salvation.

At salvation the Holy Spirit indwells your body, 1 Cor 3:16. The filling of the Spirit is the Holy Spirit controlling your life through your soul. Indwelling is permanent (1 Cor 6:19-20; 1Cor 3:16; regardless of your spiritual status.

The believer who is out of fellowship is described in 1Cor 3:1-3 and Rom 8:5-8 as being carnal. When we are carnal, we are described as grieving or quenching the Spirit.

We Grieve the Spirit in satan's cosmic system number one and we are commanded in Eph 4:30 to "not grieve the Spirit."

We quenching the Spirit in satan's cosmic system number two. We are commanded in 1Thes 5:19 to " not quench the Spirit." So grieving or quenching the Spirit means being out of fellowship in a status quo of sin nature control of the soul or carnality. Persistent carnality results in reversionism.

You are either spiritual or carnal. Both are an absolute status that finds the believer either in fellowship with God or out of fellowship with God. In other words, there are no degrees of spirituality; it's either 100 percent or zero percent.

The relative status of the Christian life is related to spiritual growth from metabolized doctrine resident in the soul but spirituality is not relative so there are no varying degrees of spirituality because it is an absolute.

In the absolute status of carnality, there is also the concept of relative retrogression that is related to the production of evil from negative volition to God's Word of Truth.

Just as positive volition to God's Word leads to more positive volition negative volition to God's Word leads to more negative volition.

So there are three different categories of status for each believer: the filling of the Holy Spirit, grieving of the Holy Spirit, or quenching of the Holy Spirit. Each is the subject of a command in God's Word.

The misunderstanding of spirituality is the reason many believers do not advance to spiritual maturity. Without the filling of the Holy Spirit a believer cannot advance to spiritual maturity. Spirituality is the link between salvation and spiritual maturity.

A believer who is not controlled by the Holy Spirit cannot be distinguished from an unbeliever. When the old sin nature controls the believer's soul, a believer can do anything an unbeliever can do.

There is a great danger in not rebounding immediately when you sin because carnality is perpetuated and perpetuated carnality, entangles you into satan's cosmic system, and enters you into the stages of Christian degeneracy.

The ministry of God the Holy Spirit to Church Age believers is described as enablement. Enablement only functions when we are filled with the Spirit inside of God's operational spiritual power system that becomes our very own beachhead in the spiritual battle we are engaged in.

Enablement is the availability of the power of the omnipotence of God the Holy Spirit for every believer in Jesus Christ.

The same divine power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the power available to every Church Age believer. Eph 1:19-20, "And what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who have believed for the working of His superior power, which superior power

v20 that He made operational by means of Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heaven.

So to be spiritual the believer must consistently utilize the power of the Holy Spirit and to do that the believer must consistently execute the mandate of Eph 5:18, "Keep on being filled with the Spirit."

This brings us to a brief look at the doctrine of the soul.
