In our verse by verse study of Romans last time we completed our Expanded Translation Rom 9:25;"As he has also communicated in Hosea (Hosea. 2:23), I will call those who are not my people (the Gentiles), my people (client nations are exclusively Gentile nations) and those who have not been loved (Gentiles in the Age of Israel as those who have been loved (during the times of the Gentiles).

Verse 25 describes the cancellation of the Jewish client nation during the times of the Gentiles when only a Gentile nation can be God's client nation.

Verse 26 describes Jesus' restoration of the Jewish nation of Israel as God's client nation in the Millennium.

The elapse of time does not hinder God's keeping of His word to true Israel. These are promises that are described in Genesis 15:5; 22:17; 26:4; Jer 33:22; Hosea 1:10.

God's discipline of the ten tribes of the northern kingdom does not abolish or rescind any of God's promises or evangelism to the Jews. So we have the phrase, "in the place where" they were destroyed in the northern kingdom, will be the same place where they will find blessing (be restored).

It refers to the land that was overrun by the Assyrians in BC 721 during the administration of the 5th cycle of discipline. That is same location at the Second Advent of Jesus Christ those who believe in Him.

The Jews in the Tribulation who are not guilty of the blackout of their soul from scar tissue from intensified negative volition to the Lord Jesus Christ that resulted in the great blot-out, will be called the sons of the living God.

So just as the quotation in Hosea 2:23 documents the salvation of Gentiles in the Old Testament this second quotation from Hosea 1:10; describes the salvation of Jews.

Rom 9:26; The Greek exegesis begins with the connective use of the conjunction "kai" (And) plus the future active indicative of "eimi" (it will be) The future tense is predictive for the second advent of Christ and the restoration of Israel.

The active voice describes the second advent of Christ that produces the action of the verb. The indicative mood is declarative for the fulfillment of God's prophecies regarding the events of the Second Advent.

"En ho topos" (in the place) so we have "and it shall be, in the place." Then we have the adverb of place, "ou" (where) is a specific reference to the land of Israel where today there is huge contention between the Jews and the so called Palestinians who claim the land because of God's scattering of the Jews during the great blot out, "it was said to them."

Next is "eipon" the aorist passive indicative of "lego" (it was said), a word that originally meant to flow, and from flow it came to mean to speak because some people speak in a flow. The use of this word explains that this is a quotation.

The constantive aorist tense describes the action of the verb in its entirety, the last half of Hosea 1:10. The passive voice: the tens tribes of the northern kingdom receive the action of the verb by interpretation, but it is also a message to any group of Jews in any period of time who have been guilty of the great blot-out.

The indicative mood is declarative for the reality of God's renunciation of the Jews who reject Jesus Christ as savior and therefore form the great blot-out.

Rom 9:26; Then there is the dative plural indirect object from the intensive pronoun "autos" (them) that is used here as a third person singular personal pronoun so it is translated "to them." So far we have, "And it shall be in the place where it was said to them." The place it was said to them was Hosea 1:10 in the TANAKH.

Next is the personal pronoun "su," (you) that is the subject that refers to a specific group of people (the Jews). Hosea was talking specifically to the 10 tribes in the northern kingdom but Paul in this quotation of Hosea in Romans includes Jews everywhere who are guilty of the great blot-out. Paul is referring to Jews everywhere.

The next phrase is "ou laos ego hymeis" (not people of me you). To read smoothly in the English the order of the words is changed and the present active indicative of the verb "eimi" that is not in the Greek text is inserted so we have (you are not my people) as our translation.

Then "ekei" (there) refers to what is now called the 'Holy Land.' "There" (n that very same place where great blot-out previously existed so that they had to be completely destroyed by the Assyrians.

"Kaleo" (they shall be called) is in the future passive indicative so it refers to the Second Advent. The passive voice: true Israel will receive the action of the verb per Hosea 1:10; that documents the fact that this has now been expanded to include all Jewish believers everywhere. The indicative mood is declarative describing a statement of truth from God's Word of absolute Truth.

Then we have the nominative of appellation from "huios" (sons) with the possessive genitive of "Theos" (God) with "zao" (living) "sons of the living God." The descriptive genitive singular, present active participle of "zao" (living) describes the eternal God who lives forever; God is eternal and Jesus Christ is God.

Expanded Translation Rom 9:26; "And it shall be in the place (Israel) where it was said (Hosea 1:10), You are not my people; in that same place (Israel) they shall be called the sons of the living God."

Verses 27 & 28 are the third documentation, a quotation from Isaiah 10:22,23. The context in the Hebrew is a prophecy regarding the restoration of Israel at the Second Advent. Paul does not quote Isaiah 10:21 that says, "A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God."

This is the group of people who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ so they were not guilty of the great blot-out that occurred when the Assyrians took the northern kingdom of Israel and that was repeated when the Chaldeans under Nebuchadnezzar took out the southern kingdom.

It was repeated periodically in the fourth cycle of discipline, and finally concluded with the 5th cycle of discipline administered by the Romans in AD 70.

In each case there was a build-up of the spiritual cancer of the great blot-out that is comprised of a concentration of people who because of their negative volition to God's Word of absolute truth have maximum hardness of heart from scar tissue in the soul.

This blot-out is a complete ignoring of the fact of the first advent that is expressed by their maximum negative volition. Even in the Tribulation there will be a great blot-out but there also will be those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, beginning with the 144,000 Jews who are scattered throughout the entire earth from twelve of the thirteen tribes.

Only the tribe of Dan will be excluded because the Jewish antichrist will come from the tribe of Dan. There will also be a great evangelistic push so that when Christ returns to the earth there will be those who recognize Him as savior who are there to greet Him.

They were not guilty of the great blot-out because they believed in Him, and they will be the remnant of Jacob who will be there to welcome the Lord Jesus Christ as the Mighty God of Israel. Isa 10:22; "For though your people, Israel, shall be like the sand of the sea, only a remnant within them will return ..."

The great population explosion that historically has occurred where Israel is concerned, their people are like the sand of the sea, but only a remnant are actually going to be there because of the big blot-out. "... A destruction is decreed bringing in justice like a flood."

This is a passage that tells it like it is. It answers the question of why were 6-million Jews destroyed by the Nazis? "A destruction was decreed bringing justice in like a flood."

Isa 10:23; "For a complete destruction, one that is decreed, my Lord Jehovah God of the armies will execute in the midst of the entire land." This specifically refers to a judgment that occurred in the land.

The 5th cycle of discipline occurs three times historically; the 4th cycle of discipline many, many times historically. All of this was because of the big blot-out that right up to this moment today is the greatest problem and the greatest failure of the Jewish people.

Their maximum negative volition expressing that is expressed by their total rejection of then first advent, a total rejection of Jesus Christ as Messiah, a total rejection of the salvation first portrayed in the blood offerings that the Jews practiced, beginning with the Exodus generation.

On Mount Sinai the Lord Jesus Christ gave these Levitical offerings to Moses, and yet these very same blood offerings were rejected and ignored. They went through the ritual; they rejected the reality. The great failure of Israel is always ritual without reality.

These two verses are quoted in Rom 9: 27-28; from the Septuagint, rather than from the Hebrew TANAKH. Isa 10:22; is quoted in Romans 9:27; Isaiah 10:23 is quoted in Romans 9:28.

The quotation distinguishes between the innumerable physical descendants of Abraham and the remnant of true Jews or those who did not make the fatal error of ignoring the first advent.

Rom 9:27; "Esaias" (Isaiah) is a transliteration of the Greek plus the conjunction "de" (but) with the present active indicative of "krazo" *shouts).

It is used to describe intensive and urgent speaking. Here it is used to describe speaking or preaching in an emergency situation.

This occurred when Sennacherib invaded. This was the great crisis that came to Israel because of a large blot-out regarding the first advent. This is why Isaiah overcame it with all of his prophecies about the first advent of Jesus Christ.

The present tense is a pictorial present that describes Isaiah's message in the process of occurring. The Assyrians under Sennacherib were knocking at the gates of Jerusalem. The active voice: Isaiah gave the message, producing the action of the verb in a dramatic speech in a time of national crisis.

The indicative mood is declarative representing the verbal action from the viewpoint of reality. The emergency is found in the prepositional phrase, the preposition "huper" (on behalf of) plus the genitive of reference from the definite article "ho" (the) plus the proper noun "Israel" (Israel).

"Isaiah shouts in an emergency on behalf of Israel." Paul quoting: Isa 10:22,23.
